The trip that started in Beijing China brought us to first the Capitol of Uzbekistan, Tashkent.  Because of a layover we (Starr Holtz and myself)
were able to spend some time traveling around the city.  In we seen the four major churches of the city and went through the open air market.
The next day we arrive in Urgench and began the Workshop.  We had a very productive workshop filled with numerous questions and great
discussions.  The researchers at UNESCO are very progressive and are ready to implement any technology that will improve the local
agricultural system.  After all the work was over Star and I where taken to the ancient city of Khiva.  Khiva is an ancient city, between 2500 and
3000 years old, that was built on the famous silt road.  The inner city is surrounded by a large wall, and people still inhabit it even though it is a tourist
site.
