PRECISION SENSING EXTENSION WORKSHOP

HARARE, ZIMBABWE, AFRICA

Great Moments are Born From Great Opportunity

JANUARY 5-12, 2008
M. Cody Daft & Daniel E. Edmonds, OSU

Dr. Pat Wall, CIMMYT

The trip to Harare, Zimbabwe, Africa proved to be an amazing adventure.  To get there, Cody and I took an unusual route due to flight cancellations and delays.  Our flight plans were as follows - Tulsa, Oklahoma to Chicago, Illinois; Chicago, Illinois to Sao Paulo, Brazil; Sao Paulo, Brazil to London, England; London, England to Johannesburg, South Africa; Johannesburg, South Africa to Harare, Zimbabwe.  We arrived in Harare a day later than planned without luggage, but were able to adjust the workshop schedule.  Cody and I conducted the Precision Sensing Workshop on Wednesday, January 9th, 2008 to a group of researchers and technicians.  On Thursday, January 10th, 2008, we had the opportunity to travel with CIMMYT around the countryside north of Harare.  It was truly amazing to see methods used for agriculture production in Zimbabwe.  In addition, the landscape is fascinating.    The short time spent in Zimbabwe was very rewarding and is a place that I would enjoy returning to someday.  For our flight home, we took a more direct route - Harare, Zimbabwe to Johannesburg, South Africa; Johannesburg, South Africa to Paris, France; Paris, France to Chicago, Illinois; Chicago, Illinois to Tulsa, Oklahoma.  Our luggage would never show up.  Below are some pictures from the trip to Zimbabwe.  For more pictures, click on the link for "Picture Slideshow", located at the bottom of this page.
